Wickmayer wins Linz title

"I wanted to turn 20 on October 20 as number 20 in the world," Yanina Wickmayer wrote in her Linz blog, and she will do just that, thanks to her victory today at the Generali Ladies Linz. 3rd seed and wild card Wickmayer defeated Petra Kvitova 6-3, 6-4 in the final.

Wickmayer also won the title in Estoril this year.

Top seeds Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Katarina Srebotnik won the doubles title, defeating 2nd seeds Klaudi Jans and Alicja Rosolska 6-1, 6-4.

It was great to see Yanina consolidate her semifinal appearance at the USO. I enjoy seeing a player accomplish that task. It is getting more difficult though to predict who will break out from the international tournaments to do well or win the premier ones.
